Job Title: Learning Support Practitioner-Horizons

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Practitioner to join our Horizons team at Barking & Dagenham College. As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support to learners with mild, moderate, and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under the supervision of tutors to support learners with learning difficulties and disabilities within the Horizons area.
  • Collaborate with the ALS Manager, LSP, EHCP Coordinator, Lead LSPs, and SENCO to advise teaching staff on strategies for working with learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities, following foundation courses, primarily in the learning environment.
Requirements:
  • A level 2 or above qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Experience of providing effective coaching for learners on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression.
  • Demonstrate an ability to support, monitor, and track learner progress, including attendance, behavior, and completion of vocational activity.
  • Understanding of academic and vocational education in a college setting.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to raising the attainment and self-esteem of all learners.
