About the Role

The Science Museum Group is seeking a skilled Workshop Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of the workshop, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. As a key member of the electromechanical team, you will be responsible for managing two apprentices, supporting them through their studies and ensuring their ongoing safety.

You will develop and run toolbox talks and other training materials to keep the wider team of technicians up to date on best practice. Additionally, you will support daily museum operations, including the maintenance and repair of hands-on electro-mechanical exhibits, and make replacement parts using a range of hand and machine tools.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a time served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification and experience of managing, mentoring or leading others in a workshop environment. You will have a good understanding of workshop processes and health and safety, with previous experience in management of workshop machinery and procedures.

You will be an effective collaborator, able to work with a team possessing a wide range of different experience and backgrounds, in a friendly and approachable manner, with a proactive and positive approach to teaching others about how things work.
