Main Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at WGM Engineering Ltd. As Lead Designer, you will be responsible for providing management support on projects across the business, developing initial client concepts or requirements into workable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide management support on projects across the business in the design and optioneering exercises.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to identify their exact requirements.
  • Attend site-based surveys to understand the needs of a given project.
  • Manage detailed design tasks to client stage gate and approval specifications.
  • Manage the production of design deliverables for specified projects.
  • Check and approve design packages produced by other designers.
  • Present designs at internal review meetings and external client review meetings.
  • Support team and personal Continuous Professional Development.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 3-5 years previous design experience ideally within a mechanical engineering or construction environment. As Lead Designer, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical design and a good understanding of the water or wastewater sector would be beneficial for the role. Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other stakeholders is also essential for the role.
