About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Management Professional to join our team as an Associate Director of Cost Planning. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Planning and Management
    • Develop and implement cost planning strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on time.
    • Lead the procurement process, ensuring effective stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation.
    • Manage cost consultants to identify and execute opportunities that improve cost management procedures, templates, and products.
  • Project Delivery
    • Direct and manage costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
    • Oversee evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by external stakeholders.
    • Manage certificates of practical completion, ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage a large team of direct reports, driving the appropriate behaviours to achieve success and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Provide performance management, technical & career development, and coaching to team members.
  • Sustainability and Carbon Reduction
    • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in cost planning, budgeting, and estimating.
  • Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
  • Detailed knowledge of forms of contract.
  • Capex V Opex cost analysis/advice.
  • Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law, and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Technical qualification/certification for project portfolio/s (or equivalent).
  • Expert knowledge and confidence to undertake and advise on contract administration and contract management.
