Job Overview

As a Second Chef with Sodexo, you will be responsible for leading a team of culinary professionals in the production of high-quality food and beverages for our armed forces personnel. Your expertise and organizational skills will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the kitchen team in the absence of senior colleagues and provide support for the production team.
  • Direct the preparation and duties of commis chefs, chef de parties, and other kitchen staff.
  • Assist in ordering, prep, stock control, and running service and clean down.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all EHO guidelines and systems.
  • Improve and maximize the use of existing stocks where necessary.
  • Work with the FOH team to drive service excellence.
  • Train, guide, and develop the kitchen team.
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure employees follow standards and regulations.
  • Prepare, produce, and present food to the highest standard.
Requirements
  • NVQ level 2/3 or experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Basic IT skills, with Microsoft packages experience.
  • Experience in menu planning and production.
  • Exposure to bulk cooking.
  • The enthusiasm to develop and learn new skills.
  • A positive and approachable manner.
