We are seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) Engineering team. As a key member of our Systems & Products business unit, you will be responsible for producing Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems and Alternative Navigation Solutions for the military market.
Main Responsibilities- Provide Design Authority expertise across a range of APNT products, providing technical direction across the product lifecycle.
- Lead the technical input for Bids and Proposals and Production of Engineering Estimates to support the capture of new business.
- Work closely with our Customers and the System Engineering Team to develop and shape the technical requirements, design, and generation of technical documentation.
- Solve complex technical problems on new and existing GPS Anti-Jam Products, and provide Engineering representation to production IPT regarding production queries, obsolescence management, and phasing of change management.
- Responsible for all technical design reviews and qualification, verification, validation, and certification of our designs to meet the highest standard expected by our customers.
- Product development experience at team lead level.
- Good knowledge of high-speed digital design, electro-mechanical, and/or thermal product design within harsh environments.
- Understanding of RF concepts and techniques for analogue signals up to 2GHz.
- Design of circuits in analogue and digital, with exposure to FPGA or DSP control.
- Experience of interfacing designs into established systems.
- Proven experience and demonstrable achievement in systems engineering principles with regards product development.
- Experience in Product Qualification, for EMC, Environmental requirements.
- Demonstrable problem-solving and analytical skills, willing to take ownership and positively contribute within cross-disciplined teams.
- Able to prioritise and manage their tasks and the engineering team activities to ensure all are completed to time and schedule while ensuring the required design process and quality is maintained.
- Experience in interpretation of customer specs and end-use environments.
- Ability to develop hardware concepts efficiently from limited or vague customer requirements and communicate potential solutions.
- Experience with generation of technical documentation at all levels.
- Good communication skills and ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders, customers, senior management, engineering, and supporting functions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer interfacing skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe, and the US.
- Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics) or similar industry certification.
- Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance.
