We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Person's Practitioner to join our dynamic team at Via Westminster Drug Project. As a key member of our Young People's service, you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals struggling with drug and alcohol issues.

The Role

As a Young Person's Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering early intervention and prevention work, providing specialist drug and alcohol treatment to young people. Your primary objectives will be to:

  • Prevent young people from engaging in substance misuse and risk-taking behaviors.
  • Enable young people to develop boundaries, emotional resilience, and self-esteem.
  • Actively support young people to reduce and/or stop harmful behaviors, encouraging prosocial and healthy alternatives.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments, care planning, and risk management for young people.
  • Deliver brief interventions, resilience training, and harm minimization strategies.
  • Involve and support families and carers of young people accessing our service.
  • Liaise with and work in partnership with key agencies and stakeholders, including the YOS, CAMHS, social services, schools, and colleges.
  • Deliver structured group work to young people.

Location

The role is based interchangeably between Barkingside and Ilford Chambers, with occasional travel to schools and satellites within the borough.
