We are seeking a skilled Traffic Operator to oversee the daily activities of our drivers, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor daily activities to achieve set targets and maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Control costs by managing nights out and monitoring parking locations.
  • Investigate revenue and cost targets, and ensure truck earnings are accurate.
  • Approve daily hours checks and timesheets.
  • Ensure costs are correct on running sheets and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Verify override dates and revenue allocation.
  • Take responsibility for containers left on wheels in yards, ensuring exports meet vessel deadlines and empties are returned on time.
  • Coordinate pickup legs and move containers into the relevant planning screen.
  • Ensure containers are returned to quay or depot before detention is incurred.
  • Utilize one-way, tip, and reload opportunities to increase profitability.
  • Communicate with drivers and provide weekend overtime shifts to the Planner by Wednesday.
  • Monitor driver cover sheets for changes.
  • Train drivers to use specialized equipment.
  • Ensure jobs do not exceed legal weight requirements.
  • Verify ATA, ATD, ETA, and trailer numbers in Truckcom.
  • Set override dates correctly for sub-contractor trailer reports.
  • Monitor ETA's and enter late advisories at least 30 minutes before booking time.
  • Send demurrage warnings after 2 hours on site.
  • Route vehicles and ensure drivers are aware of their jobs and start times.
  • Log OV's and sub-contractors in Truckcom.
  • Follow service and MOT schedules.
  • Research and understand driver legal working hours.
  • Build positive relationships with drivers to ensure a content workforce.
Qualifications:
  • Oversee, manage, and monitor daily activities of allocated drivers.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and ensure regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Make decisions in the best interests of the Company and clients, escalating issues to line managers when necessary.
  • Promote a company culture that encourages high morale and top performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Minimize operation expenditure within the business.
  • Understand and comply with the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy.
  • Set a personal example with respect to health and safety.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and in-house systems.
