Position Overview

The University of Chichester is seeking a dedicated and skilled HCPC registered Physiotherapist to become a part of its expanding health care education faculty. This is a pivotal moment for health care education within our esteemed institution, recognized for its exceptional teaching and student satisfaction. We are enhancing our offerings and have made substantial investments in resources, alongside a growing reputation for innovation and excellence. Consequently, we are looking to appoint a full-time Lead Educator in Physiotherapy or two part-time educators, with expertise and enthusiasm in Cardio/Pulmonary Physiotherapy, to join our vibrant academic team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Educator in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, your role will encompass:

  • Leading and coordinating teaching efforts for a modern Physiotherapy curriculum.
  • Enhancing the educational experience for students, ensuring a high-quality, research-informed learning environment that fosters an understanding of healthcare practices and the attainment of both academic and professional credentials.
  • Engaging in teaching and learning activities, supporting student recruitment, facilitating clinical placements, conducting assessments, and participating in research initiatives.
  • Collaborating on interprofessional research and scholarly activities, while also working with clinical partners to develop and manage suitable clinical placements.
  • Opportunities to advance your research and partnership engagement alongside teaching responsibilities.

Role Responsibilities

Core Functions:

Your contributions will include:

  • Delivering Physiotherapy education with a focus on Cardio/Pulmonary care, enhancing the student experience across both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs.
  • Providing a high-quality, research-informed educational experience that leads to a comprehensive understanding of healthcare practices.
  • Supporting developments in line with professional and interprofessional agendas, and collaborating with clinical colleagues to facilitate student learning in practice.
  • Participating in the wider Institute of Applied Sciences, including research, income generation, and student recruitment.

As a Lead Educator, you will also engage in curriculum reviews, shaping the future of our educational offerings while participating in key activities such as teaching, administration, research, and income generation.

Teaching and Learning

  • Assuming responsibility for program coordination as necessary.
  • Designing and delivering teaching materials across various modules.
  • Contributing to the planning and development of educational objectives and materials.
  • Supporting clinical practice partners in facilitating student work-related learning.
  • Identifying student learning needs and developing appropriate outcomes.

Research and Scholarly Activities

  • Engaging in pedagogic and practitioner research.
  • Conducting collaborative scholarly projects.
  • Developing and disseminating learning materials based on scholarly activities.

Communication and Networking

  • Effectively communicating complex ideas to students and peers.
  • Participating in internal and external networks to enhance student recruitment and placements.

Team Collaboration

  • Fostering productive working relationships with academic and professional staff.
  • Coordinating efforts to address student needs.

Pastoral Care

  • Providing first-line support to students and referring them to appropriate services as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A relevant undergraduate degree.
  • A Master’s level qualification in a related field.
  • Registered Physiotherapist with a minimum of four years of experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching in a higher education or clinical setting.

Desirable:

  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Experience in research supervision.
