Job Summary:The Patient Account Specialist will serve as the first point of contact between patients and the facility, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide warm and welcoming greetings to patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a positive first impression of our facility.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly lobby and front desk area, creating a welcoming environment for all.
- Answer phone calls in a courteous and respectful manner, addressing all needs of the caller and transferring calls as appropriate.
- Provide information on Rural Health Group's programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring patients are well-informed and empowered to make informed decisions about their care.
- Refer patients to the nursing staff for triage and medical advice, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Explain clinic regulations, such as hours, payment of accounts, and schedule of charges, ensuring patients understand their responsibilities and expectations.
- Reduce barriers by improving linkages to services, ensuring patients have access to the resources they need to achieve optimal health outcomes.
- Participate in internal and external educational opportunities relevant to the front desk or customer service environment, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Experience/training in an outpatient medical office setting is required.
- Associate/Bachelor's Degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of medical terms and abbreviations is essential.
- Experience with electronic health record systems is a plus.
- Basic computer skills, including typing, are required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
