Job Description

As a Construction Assurance Engineer at Thames Water, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of assets. Your responsibilities will span the project lifecycle, from design to post-takeover, focusing on quality, cost-efficiency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Delivery Reviews: Support essential design and delivery reviews, identifying risks and issues, and working with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Construction Phase Management: Focus on the construction phase of projects, assessing and reporting project progress, acting to rectify matters, and taking the lead on the escalation process if necessary. Ensure all non-conformance is identified and rectified.
  • Commissioning and Testing: Ensure all commissioning activities, including takeover testing, are defined in the commissioning plan and are satisfactorily completed and recorded.
  • Snag Management and Aftercare: Manage identification and resolution of snags and after Take Over liaising with Operators and contractors to manage the defects and aftercare process.
  • Take Over Testing and Approval: Monitor, agree, and approve Take Over tests with the project team.
  • Project Documentation: Ensure that required project documentation meets our specifications and approve information for taking over.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as an active member of one or more project teams with one or more of our contractors.
Requirements:
  • Education: Have an HNC or above in Civil engineering subject or background in a similar role.
  • Health and Safety Qualification: Have a significant Health and Safety qualification National Examination Board in Occupational Safety or Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or Construction Certificate, hold a Site Management Safety certificate, or be willing to gain one.
  • Personal Qualities: Be driven, resilient, and tenacious under pressure, wanting to deliver projects on time, cost, and quality.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to interact with our stakeholders and contractors.
  • Health and Safety Culture: Foster a positive Health and Safety culture within the team and contractors, ensuring we assert all environmental and Health and Safety statutory obligations.
