Quality Assurance Specialist

Working Hours: Monday - Friday: 6.00AM - 2.00PM

Annual Salary: £28,000

Primary Responsibilities

  • Actively engaging with team members to enhance the quality culture across various departments.
  • Conducting microbiological and allergen testing on finished products and the production environment.
  • Leading taste testing panels, documenting results, and addressing any product discrepancies.
  • Performing internal calibrations and overseeing the external calibration schedule.
  • Executing GMP, foreign body, and procedural audits, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Reviewing and organizing production documentation to maintain compliance for each batch.
  • Conducting microbiological and sensory evaluations throughout the product shelf life.
  • Managing the hold process for non-conforming materials and products.
  • Identifying, documenting, and investigating non-conformances.
  • Regularly challenging the traceability system.
  • Preparing and presenting traceability documentation for audits.
  • Assisting in the investigation of customer complaints.
  • Supporting the training of staff on procedures.
  • Facilitating activities during customer and third-party audits.
  • Conducting shelf life and nutritional assessments from trials.
  • Performing vegan and investigative swabbing.
  • Managing consumables and external calibrations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in high-care environments, though training will be provided.
  • Minimum qualifications include Level 2 HACCP and Food Safety Training.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly with Microsoft Excel and laboratory management systems.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, capable of working independently and managing one’s own tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in high-risk or high-care food manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Assertive and capable of promoting a quality culture on the production floor.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience in quality assurance roles.
  • Food Safety Level 2 certification.
  • HACCP Level 2 certification.
