Risk and Assurance Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Assurance Manager to join our team at Hays Senior Finance. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for delivering an effective risk and assurance framework, managing strategic and operational risks within appetite, and providing assurance to the Board and stakeholders on the effectiveness of internal controls.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk and assurance strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives.
- Oversee the outsourced internal audit process and in-house audit and assurance work, including a review of operating controls, processes, and improvements to existing policies and controls.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the group's approach to risk and assurance is engaging and collaborative while maintaining appropriate oversight and independence.
- Prioritize and escalate issues resulting in potential non-compliance with the leadership team and the Audit and Risk Committee where necessary.
- Lead the implementation of the assurance framework, driving the team and the business to perform independent assurance reviews of key risk areas across the first and second lines of defense.
- Line manage a multidisciplinary team, including Risk, Assurance, and Insurance, with the ability to mentor, inspire, and drive high standards.
- Significant knowledge of risk, internal control, and compliance management frameworks, ideally from within the housing, construction, or property field.
- Good systems and technological knowledge, including the ability to utilize Excel and other data systems.
- Experience in a managerial capacity, leading a small yet successful team within a large business.
- Ideal candidates will hold an accounting or professional qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, or reputable risk/compliance management accreditation.
- A competitive salary of £50,000 to £55,000, depending on experience.
- Flexible working arrangements, including homework and 1-2 days in the office per week.
- A minimum of 25 days' holiday, along with three additional days off at Christmas, and an additional holiday purchase scheme.
