Position: Project Manager


VGC Energy, a division of VGC Group Limited, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee various contracts across the UK. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective execution of Overhead Line Projects.


As a Project Manager, you will play a vital role within the Operational Team, focusing on the successful implementation of projects that may involve the refurbishment of existing overhead power lines or the establishment of new lines crucial for the UK's energy security.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and Quality Plans for all operational sites.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation for site activities is properly established, adhered to, and regularly updated.
  • Communicate programming and change notifications promptly to support internal departments.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Design department as required.
  • Act as the primary liaison for correspondence and meetings with external parties.
  • Work closely with the Head of Operations and Head of Portfolio to effectively allocate resources across projects.
  • Document contract changes and compensation events, ensuring the Commercial team evaluates impacts on costs and schedules.
  • Utilize project controls to improve project efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of time bookings, allowances, and expenses.
  • Prepare monthly contract review reports and project close-out documentation.
  • Participate in Company and Client contract review and progress meetings.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the project-specific management team.
  • Represent the company to clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of commercial and contractual matters to ensure proper contract administration.


Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Understanding of construction contract administration, particularly NEC3/4.
  • Familiarity with the fundamental construction elements of the UK electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience working with blue-chip clients, including leading discussions with various stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to and work from various sites across the UK.
  • Operational experience in Overhead Line construction and refurbishment is preferred.
  • Project Management qualifications and/or higher education are advantageous.
  • A recognized Health & Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH General Certificate, is desirable.
