Project Manager – Overview

VGC Energy, a division of VGC Group Limited, is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee various contracts across the UK. This role is crucial for the successful execution of Overhead Line Projects.

Key Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, you will:

  • Develop and implement Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and Quality Plans for all operational sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary documentation for site activities, regularly reviewing and updating as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding programming and change notifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Design team as required.
  • Act as the primary liaison for correspondence and meetings with external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Head of Operations and Head of Portfolio to allocate resources efficiently across projects.
  • Document contract changes and compensation events, facilitating evaluations by the Commercial team.
  • Utilize project controls to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Submit time bookings, allowances, and expenses accurately and on time.
  • Prepare monthly reports on contract reviews and project closures.
  • Participate in contract review and progress meetings with the Company and Clients.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the project-specific management team.
  • Represent the Company to clients and stakeholders, maintaining strong commercial and contractual awareness.

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience in administering construction contracts, particularly NEC3/4.
  • Knowledge of the UK electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure.
  • Over 5 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Client-facing experience with major clients, including leading discussions with various stakeholders.
  • A willingness to travel across the UK for site work.
  • Operational experience in Overhead Line construction and refurbishment (preferred).
  • Relevant Project Management qualifications or a degree in a related field (preferred).
  • A recognized Health & Safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred).
