Teddington, Greater London, United Kingdom National Physical Laboratory Full time

About the Position

This role is officially designated as Senior Technical Specialist. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site a minimum of two days per week.

The National Physical Laboratory is seeking a permanent Senior Salesforce Solutions Architect (Technical Specialist). This position focuses on leading the design, development, and maintenance of the Salesforce platform. You will be an integral part of the Enterprise Systems team.

As Salesforce becomes increasingly vital to our operations, we need a Senior Salesforce Solutions Architect to facilitate its integration across the organization. The individual will collaborate with key stakeholders, including teams from Sales, Marketing, and Project Management, to gather and analyze business requirements, driving the development of the Salesforce platform to align with strategic goals.

This role will be responsible for executing and leading technical implementations and integrations, ensuring adherence to best practices.

Implementing security measures within the system will be essential, in partnership with our Information and Cyber Security teams.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in utilizing Salesforce APIs to create seamless connections that enhance data flow and functionality across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, design, develop, and implement solutions and processes that address stakeholders' business needs.
  • Support ongoing improvements and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and value.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with customers and stakeholders to enhance the laboratory's mission and sustainability.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure data governance and processes comply with Cyber Security and GDPR standards.
  • Oversee platform administration.
  • Customize and configure Salesforce, including the creation of custom objects, fields, workflows, triggers, and validation rules.
  • Identify, develop, and implement necessary integrations between Salesforce and other systems.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and manage user acceptance testing to ensure deliverable quality.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Stay informed about Salesforce best practices, industry trends, and new features to enhance solutions continuously.
  • Establish and manage Process Automations using Workflow, Process Builder, and Flow, as well as Security and Sharing Rules.
  • Manage periodic platform updates, keeping the organization informed of new features and bug fixes.

We are currently adopting a hybrid working model, combining remote and office work. We aim to provide a healthy work-life balance; whether you seek full-time, part-time, or flexible arrangements, we will strive to accommodate your needs where feasible. This will depend on the specific role and business unit.

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and passionate individual to join the Enterprise Systems team within the CIO.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive technical expertise in developing Salesforce solutions, including customization, configuration, and integration with other systems.
  • Strong understanding of authentication protocols, data mapping, and error handling to ensure reliable integrations that enhance overall system architecture and user experience.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with other ERP systems is essential; familiarity with MS D365 is preferable.
  • Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura Components, and Salesforce APIs (Integration and Management).
  • Comfortable using Object Query Language (SOQL) and Salesforce Object Search Language (SOSL) for effective database queries.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies to respond swiftly to changes, manage backlogs, and deliver incremental value.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and accurately gather requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, provide status updates, and negotiate solutions that align business needs with technical feasibility.
  • Customer-oriented mindset, always seeking to enhance the customer experience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer, Salesforce Certified Administrator) are highly desirable.
