Position Overview
A remarkable opportunity exists for an EVENING X-RAY ASSISTANT at University Hospitals Dorset.
Currently, we have an opening in our team of evening X-ray assistants.

The successful applicant will integrate into the X-ray Evening Assistant team and schedule, working three consecutive evenings weekly between the hours of 16:30 - 00:15.

Primary responsibilities will be centered in the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Care (UTC) areas within X-ray, with occasional support in the main X-ray department as necessary.

This role involves assisting radiographers in the imaging process of our patients, providing patient care and support as needed. Additionally, effective communication with wards and basic IT skills are essential components of the position.

University Hospitals Dorset

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting radiographers and collaborating with the X-ray team
  • Preparing and changing patients as required
  • Transporting patients on trolleys between various areas
  • Coordinating and communicating with wards regarding patient management
  • Utilizing radiology IT and portering systems efficiently

Detailed Job Description and Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical tasks, including the use of the Radiology Information System and E.D. Agyle system.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all documentation prior to examinations or investigations.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and compliant documentation as per Trust and departmental policies.
  • Assist in the movement of patients, equipment, or supplies.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in all patient and staff areas, including routine maintenance of X-ray equipment.
  • Manage stock levels of consumables in X-ray rooms effectively.
  • Maintain precise record-keeping and quality input of patient data across all Trust IT systems.
  • Complete mandatory training and competency requirements, including resuscitation techniques, health and safety, fire safety, and manual handling.
  • Adhere to all departmental protocols and policies.
  • Exhibit initiative, sound judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working arrangements to meet patient needs.
  • Undertake additional duties as mutually agreed upon in line with the role's development.
