Role Overview
As part of our strategic workforce planning, we are inviting applications for several Automation Technician roles within our Engineering Department at the Shotton Works site. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in delivering specialized engineering support to our manufacturing operations.
Your responsibilities will include addressing equipment malfunctions, troubleshooting issues to restore production efficiency promptly. Additionally, you will engage in design modifications, software enhancements, and improvements to plant machinery while complying with established software management protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Completion of a time-served apprenticeship and HNC level or higher in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation fields.
- Professional Experience: Significant experience in a comparable role or manufacturing setting is required.
- Essential Skills: Proficiency with Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix or Siemens S7 PLCs is mandatory. Experience with AC or DC inverter drives, troubleshooting, commissioning, and programming is necessary. Familiarity with instrumentation, control loop maintenance, and fault diagnosis is essential. Some exposure to SCADA and HMI development is preferred. A solid understanding of health and safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently are also vital. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is advantageous.
