About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Sonographer to join our team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our ultrasound department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a comprehensive range of examinations, including general abdominal, obstetric, gynaecology, paediatrics, vascular, small parts, head and neck, and breast ultrasound.
  • Issue your own reports and work independently.
  • Participate in the weekend and evening rota, with flexibility possible for compressed hours.
  • Mentor junior staff and trainees, and contribute to clinical governance and audit.
Requirements
  • Recognised Postgraduate CASE Accredited Ultrasound Qualification (DMU/Pg Dip/MSc).
  • UK professional registration as a Radiographer with the Health Professions Council or as a Midwife/Nurse with the RCN.
  • Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience in Ultrasound, with evidence of advanced level CPD in specialist skill areas.

Our team of 19 sonographers and 12 cross-site Ultrasound Radiology Assistants work together to provide a range of out-patient appointment lists, in-patient services, and one-stop clinics. We have 18 high-end ultrasound machines and two new reporting systems in place.

We encourage and support our team to advance their ultrasound skills, including breast, head and neck, paediatrics, MSK, orbits, and small ESHT. We also provide opportunities for CPD, external courses, and extension of administrative roles.
