Job Description

Sanctuary Personnel Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our team as a Senior Social Work Leader. This is a permanent position based in Wandsworth, working full-time within the Adult Social Care Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Motivation: As a member of the management team, you will provide motivational leadership, being visibly involved in the office and online, working alongside staff and building relationships with practitioners.
  • Supervision and Development: You will provide regular strengths-based supervision to social care staff, empowering and supporting practitioners to develop their practice, focusing on their skills, celebrating achievements, and making time for reflective discussions.
  • Corporate Values and Behaviours: You will explain the corporate values and behaviours to the service and discuss equality, diversity, and inclusion with practitioners, challenging discrimination and raising issues of inequality.
  • Case File Audits and Training: You will undertake regular case file audits, using the outcomes to support the learning and professional development of the service, identifying training needs and ensuring they are acted upon.
  • Management of Budgets: You will assist as required with the management of budgets by ensuring that the throughput of work is consistent and that work steps are completed in a timely and effective way, including quality assuring and authorising assessments, support plans, and reviews.
  • Statutory Responsibilities: You will be up to date on our statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and Human Rights Act and ensure the team works within the legal framework.
  • Positive Attitude to Risk: You will encourage a positive attitude to risk and a no-blame culture to support practitioners in taking ownership of their practice in providing a social care service and facilitating innovation and creativity.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: You will support practitioners in building the confidence and skills to work effectively with people, acting as a coach/mentor.
  • Safeguarding: You will understand both Council's duties and responsibilities for safeguarding children, young people, and adults as they apply to the role within the council.
  • Qualifications: A professional Social Work qualification or equivalent is required.
