Design Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to join our team at BAM Nuttall. As a key member of our Engineering and Design Team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing design management strategies that support our Pre-construction and Project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with designers to ensure effective design delivery and implementation.
- Establish and promote best practices in health, safety, sustainability, cost, time, buildability, and quality.
- Provide strategic advice and knowledge on design management best practices.
- Identify, coach, and develop key staff to enhance their skills and expertise.
- Offer operational, strategic, contractual, and technical advice to bid preparation and project management.
- Promote business process for design management through training and guidance on NP20 design management procedures.
- Implement 3D design delivery strategies to inform and deliver project BIM Execution Plans.
- Manage delivery of guidance and service support to bid and project meetings.
- Prepare, maintain, and communicate design commissioning, commercial, and delivery records.
- Promote business in design and construct through personal contact with employers and stakeholders.
- Keep management informed of business area design management activity and progress achieved.
- Investigate emerging new techniques and technologies in design management and advise on suitable application.
- Raise the profile of BAM Nuttall in design management through conferences, seminars, and presentations.
- Perform peer review of technical proposals.
- Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 requirements for internal and external designers.
- Oversee residual design risk management framework and communicate residual design risks to risk owners.
- Practical experience in engineering, including use of IT and digital construction.
- Knowledge of 3D Design Delivery Strategy.
- Understanding of engineering principles, geotechnics, and structures.
- Knowledge of design delivery process gained through successful experience in design and design coordination roles.
- Knowledge of project management process gained through successful experience in project management.
- Knowledge of work process in design offices through successful experience in design delivery coordination.
- For internal applicants, knowledge of NP20 (Design Management for design services), company procedures, guidance policy, and relevant government legislation.
- Knowledge and experience of operating information management systems compliant with ES1192 and associated PAS1192 standards.
- Knowledge of design standards and procedures, preferably with some knowledge and experience of temporary works systems, processes, and design in relation to BS 5975:2019.
- Equivalent qualification and/or chartered engineer.
