Job Summary
Safran Landing Systems is seeking a skilled Laboratory Process Technician to join our team in Gloucester. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for the analysis and management of vat solutions, compilation of data, and preparation and testing of various materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis and management of vat solutions associated with salvage activity, with a focus on electroplating and zinc nickel.
- Compilation of vat analysis data and publication of results.
- Preparation and testing of test panels, salt spray checks, Lawrence gauge analysis, and paint strip controls.
- Assistance in the control and procurement of processing chemicals, management of chemistry levels on site, and waste stream management.
- Collaboration with supervision and engineering to resolve issues related to chemistry and ancillary equipment.
- Review of process control specifications to ensure compliance and optimization.
- Maintenance and refinement of existing works procedures, and development of new procedures as needed.
- Support for new product and process compliance, including chemistry-based gap analysis and related gap closing activity.
- Quality management system support, including laboratory support for internal and external audits.
- Technical support for designated turnkey projects.
- Management of the metal finishing facility plating plant, including planned preventative maintenance for vats, ancillary, and environmental equipment.
Requirements
- Substantive experience in engineering, plating apprenticeship, or equivalent, ideally in the aerospace or automotive sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electroplating and associated techniques.
- Ability to carry out a wide range of electroplating analysis and familiarity with tools, techniques, and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and regulatory documentation.
- Comprehensive process knowledge.
- Experience with COSHH and safe use and treatment of chemicals.
- Ability to read methods and sequences of operations.
- Effective organization and planning skills, with ability to manage personal workload.
- Keen sense of "Right First Time".
