We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to join our Commercial team at Jollyes The Pet People. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for the financial performance, product and supplier selection of specified sections or categories across our pet range.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with merchandising colleagues to own the full end-to-end product solution for each category, from sourcing to store and online presentation.
- Build effective communications with retail teams to share the rationale and details of new product launches.
- Source new supplier opportunities and supply routes, presenting range and propositions to the Trading Director.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best price point for our customers, while keeping abreast of market pricing and competitor activity.
- Review supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage any issues.
- Create category strategies, define the range and associated margins, and share category insights with the wider business.
- Work with the Learning and Development Manager to ensure colleague training for all new product launches and existing ranges.
- Collaborate with the Technical Manager to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards across all product ranges.
- Strong financial acumen and numerical skills, including data interpretation.
- Organizational skills, with experience of horizon planning, critical path management, and working to tight deadlines.
- Analytical skills, with experience of using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience of FOB sourcing and negotiating, particularly in the pet industry.
- Solution-oriented approach, with a proactive and self-driven mindset.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
- Passion for animals and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Integrity and diligence, with a strong sense of ethics and responsibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
