About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team at JAM Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our Engineering Team, you will be responsible for delivering designs for various infrastructure projects, including the Dock Readiness project, which involves upgrading the existing dry dock for submarine defuels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Design Manager in delivering project scope
  • Oversee and support generation of 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs
  • Update or provide information to support updating extant documents
  • Maintain and update project registers of technical queries, change requests, design review requests, and design review actions
  • Determine durations for design tasks to support the principal engineer and project manager in planning activities
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering works, including mechanical handling, mechanical or electrical systems/services
  • Experience of mechanical design, including new or modification to structures and systems
  • Experience of the nuclear civil or defence industries
  • Ability to follow a nuclear safety led engineering process and maintain accurate records and document/drawing revision control
  • Effective report writing and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar software
  • Demonstrable communication skills and ability to host and participate in design meetings
Desirable Qualifications
  • Chartered Engineer status and member of relevant institute
  • Significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level
