Opportunity Overview

Located in Boston, Massachusetts, we are seeking a qualified Engineering professional to fill the role of Power Systems Engineering Specialist.

Collaborating with our East Coast team, the selected candidate will deliver consultancy services in traction power, overhead catenary systems, and electrification. Responsibilities include assisting clients with effective maintenance, inspection, and renewal strategies, enhancing asset management processes, and supporting the implementation of reliability initiatives.

Boston is renowned for its exceptional living standards and offers a vibrant lifestyle, particularly during the fall season when the city showcases stunning autumn foliage across its parks and public spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to clients in operational railway, subway, and light rail power systems engineering and maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and identify opportunities for improvement in areas such as:
    • Maintenance, inspection, and renewal techniques for power systems;
    • Asset management processes and data;
    • Innovative strategies to enhance asset reliability;
    • Work prioritization and management methodologies.
  • Assist clients in executing power systems engineering and maintenance enhancement initiatives.
  • Participate in or lead technical investigations into system failures or malfunctions as required.
  • Analyze asset failure data and defect information to identify potential failure modes, informing clients' asset policies and reliability improvement plans.
  • Prepare professional reports, deliver presentations, and represent the NRC brand to clients.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe manner, adhering to NRC operational procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Professional Engineer qualification in the US or equivalent UK Incorporated Engineer (IEng) (preferred).
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • Understanding of technical, safety, and performance standards related to power systems engineering.
  • Proven experience in traction power, overhead catenary systems, and related maintenance and inspection techniques.
  • Experience in identifying innovations and utilizing the latest technologies to enhance traction power systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with asset data management, including Enterprise Asset Management systems (EAMS) (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
