Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our Component Engineering Base Engine Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing engine components that meet our high standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop engine components, including major aluminium and cast iron castings, geartrain, valvetrain, drivetrain, and in-cylinder components.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet customer, durability, and functional requirements.
  • Determine root cause and develop solutions for complex issues arising from the Quality and Manufacturing environments.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations.
  • Plan and manage project and sub-project deliverables, with the ability to lead and coach less experienced engineers.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in design and development of engine components, with a strong understanding of IC engines and CAD design.
  • Knowledge of APQP methodology and tools, with experience in component and engine validation and verification.
  • Experience in component and engine validation and verification, with a strong understanding of FMEA.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
