Compensation: £43.19 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Project Overview: Engage in the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) initiative, a pivotal element of the long-term clean-up strategy at Sellafield. This facility is crucial for the secure handling of nuclear waste, encapsulating it in concrete for sustainable storage. The focus is on waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo and other legacy waste facilities, contributing to the extensive decommissioning efforts overseen by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
Role Overview: As a Civil Engineer, you will be instrumental in the effective execution of the BEP project, ensuring that construction activities adhere to contract specifications, are completed safely, on schedule, and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical & Site Management:
- Accurately set out detailed works according to contract drawings, ensuring compliance with project requirements through regular checks.
- Address unforeseen technical challenges and issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
- Develop procurement schedules and collaborate with the procurement team to ensure resource availability.
- Planning & Documentation:
- Create Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Task Briefings.
- Prepare 2-week lookahead schedules in conjunction with the Project Team.
- Maintain Site Diaries and Allocation Sheets to document daily progress and resource distribution.
- Health, Safety & Environment:
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance on-site, adhering to company protocols and legal obligations.
- Ensure all operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Lead by example in delivering work safely and within the agreed timelines.
- Quality Assurance:
- Encourage best practices and ensure all work is completed defect-free.
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities wherever feasible.
- Uphold company quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in setting out on civil engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients and team members.
- BPSS security clearance, with the capability to obtain a P4 pass.
- Desirable:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Experience in coordinating temporary works.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Training in cable avoidance, first aid, and confined spaces.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
