Position Summary:
Are you enthusiastic about improving the student experience? As a Learning Support Advisor at BIMM Institute, you will be instrumental in ensuring that students with learning requirements or disabilities receive exceptional support services. Your role will involve managing a caseload of students, providing assistance from their application process through their initial semester and beyond, ensuring that their educational journey is accessible and well-supported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in recognizing and addressing their learning requirements, collaborating closely with applicants and current students.
- Coordinate with the DSA Team and NMH providers to secure support and funding for students.
- Develop learner profiles and communicate individual needs to relevant staff while upholding confidentiality.
- Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in student wellbeing initiatives, acting as a strong advocate for all students.
- Work alongside the Student Wellbeing Manager and Admissions team to address support needs and facilitate enrollment and induction processes.
- Maintain precise records of student needs, support provided, and actions taken for effective documentation.
Qualifications:
- A good standard of general education is essential, with a degree being preferred.
- Previous experience supporting young adults with SEND is crucial, with experience in a Student Wellbeing role being beneficial.
- Strong administrative capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- An empathetic and inclusive approach, resilience, and the ability to manage a demanding workload.
- A comprehensive understanding of the role of Learning Support within a higher education context.
