About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Nurse Specialist to lead our Cancer Information Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and management support to the team, working alongside the Clinical Lead to facilitate the development and growth of a highly motivated and specialist knowledge Cancer Information team.

The post holder will work autonomously, acting as an independent clinical resource for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, providing specialist advice and information from appropriate and up-to-date resources. They will also be responsible for signposting and referring patients to other healthcare professionals and organizations when necessary.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of cancer care and be able to manage patient queries through our drop-in service, by phone, and email. They will also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to work collaboratively with the Personalised Care Lead to support the delivery of the HOPE course and other supportive options for patients at the end of their treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and management support to the Cancer Information Team
  • Work alongside the Clinical Lead to facilitate the development and growth of the team
  • Act as an independent clinical resource for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
  • Provide specialist advice and information from appropriate and up-to-date resources
  • Signpost and refer patients to other healthcare professionals and organizations when necessary
  • Manage patient queries through our drop-in service, by phone, and email
  • Work collaboratively with the Personalised Care Lead to support the delivery of the HOPE course and other supportive options for patients at the end of their treatment
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with a BSC/1st degree and post-registration qualification in an appropriate area of speciality
  • Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within an oncology/haematology/surgical oncology setting
  • Proven evidence of management and leadership in leading a team
  • Experience of delivering patient advocacy
  • Experience of audit, research, and evidence-based care
  • Experience of working with significant others, family, partners, of people with cancer
