Position: CNC Miller Programmer/Setter Specialist

Location: Birmingham

Working Hours: MON – THURS 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, FRI 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation: £18 - £20 per hour (based on experience)

We are seeking a skilled CNC Miller Programmer to join our esteemed client in Birmingham, recognized as a premier OEM partner in the production and refurbishment of outsourced internal combustion engines and electric vehicle batteries, as well as innovative sustainable propulsion solutions for a global clientele. Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machinery, ensuring adherence to lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks using appropriate measuring tools as required.
  • Complete and file all necessary documentation and labels accurately.
  • Update the manufacturing shop floor data collection system as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machinery.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and undertake additional duties as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in CNC milling.
  • Utilize conventional machines such as Centre Lathe, Turret Mill, and Surface Grinder.
  • Employ CAD software in relevant tasks.
  • Possess experience with quality systems.

Who is the Ideal Candidate?

  • Must have substantial experience in both online and offline programming, particularly with VISI software.
  • Proficient in setting up and operating 3 & 5 axis machining centers, with a strong working knowledge of Mazatrol, Siemens, and/or Heidenhain controls.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in producing one-off components from engineering drawings, with the ability to work to tight tolerances and inspect parts using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Capable of using initiative to create fixtures or jigs to facilitate part production, with a solid understanding of tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects from inception to completion while meeting deadlines.
