Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is dedicated to supporting young individuals and their families. The ideal candidate will be committed to collaborative teamwork and will play a pivotal role in leading clinical advancements within the service. This role includes developing and mentoring staff to uphold the highest standards of care and therapeutic support.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide clinical leadership and specialized assessment and treatment within their area of expertise in the Early Intervention in Mental Health Services (EWMHS).
  • Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and systematic outcome evaluations, while offering extensive clinical supervision to junior clinicians.
  • Supervise and manage the post-graduate qualified psychological practitioner within the local EWMHS team.
  • Engage in delivering and overseeing a variety of therapeutic interventions, which may include parent work, group therapy, school observations, and specialized psychological treatments.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other mental health and wellbeing services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.

Probationary Period

This position will include a probationary period, with exemptions for internal applicants unless currently undergoing a probationary period or part of the bank staff.

Induction Process

New employees will receive a thorough induction process that spans up to two weeks, covering mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. This process also includes opportunities to meet with senior management and participate in various engagement sessions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Completion of a post-graduate training program in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • Eligibility for registration as a full member of the relevant professional body (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP).
  • Extensive experience working with children and young people facing complex mental health challenges.
  • Proven experience in providing clinical supervision to qualified psychological practitioners.
  • Experience in therapeutic work with families of children and young people with complex needs.
