Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team at A F Howland Associates as a senior/principal level geotechnical engineer to assist with the technical development and expansion of our geotechnical projects.

The role will be diverse and the responsibilities associated with this position include:

• Liaising with clients and stakeholders to understand their technical requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.

• Tendering for new projects and managing contracts to ensure successful project delivery.

• Conducting site investigations and data analysis to inform geotechnical designs.

• Preparing interpretative reports and technical documents to communicate complex information to clients and stakeholders.

• Managing junior staff and providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.

• Developing and implementing systems to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.

• Staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of geotechnical engineering.

You should be familiar with UK site investigation techniques and practice, and be able to understand soils and rock to BS 5930+A2. You should also be familiar with the requirements of Eurocode 7 as a basis for the preparation of geotechnical designs, including but not limited to slope stability, excavations, retaining walls and foundations.

A particular experience or interest in trenchless construction systems would be an advantage, and their relationship to certification in accordance with HD22/08 and Network Rail procedures for undertrack crossings.
