Head of Governance and Compliance

We are The Very Group, a leading online retailer, and we're seeking a highly experienced professional to join our team as Head of Commercial Policy and Governance. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop our corporate governance agenda, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of governance and compliance.
About the Role:- Provide strategic corporate governance advice and support to our Board and Committees.
- Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and mature our Governance and Regulatory Reporting Control framework.
- Manage company secretarial and corporate governance matters, including contractual reporting requirements.
- Develop and implement effective governance routines, ensuring our Boards and Committees are fit for purpose.
- Provide corporate governance and strategic advice during and outside of meetings.
- Support the Chair, Directors, and other members of the Board or Committees in discharging their duties.
- Keep up-to-date with key regulatory or statutory changes and policies that might affect our organisation.
- Liaise with our Legal Team and Compliance & Risk Team to ensure effective governance and compliance.
- Extensive experience in company secretarial or a similar role, preferably in retail or a similar sector.
- First-class understanding of key legal and regulatory environments.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and critically evaluate risk elements.
- Ability to shape and develop a corporate governance agenda with sophistication.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing a corporate governance framework.
