Job Title: Tobacco Dependence Treatment Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Tobacco Dependence Treatment Specialist to join our team at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our maternity team, you will play a vital role in helping pregnant women overcome tobacco addiction.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team to deliver evidence-based behavioural support and treatment to pregnant women who are tobacco dependent. You will work closely with our Lead Midwife for Treating Tobacco Dependence and other key members of the maternity team to develop personalised treatment plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based behavioural support and treatment to pregnant women who are tobacco dependent
  • Work with the Lead Midwife for Treating Tobacco Dependence and other key members of the maternity team to develop personalised treatment plans
  • Conduct daily ward rounds to identify maternity inpatients who may require tobacco dependency treatment
  • Dispense Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) according to the Trust protocol
  • Use the Maternity Information System (MIS) to provide real-time feedback to the referring professional regarding women's treatment plans and progress

Key Requirements
  • Qualifications:
    • GCSE level English and Mathematics or equivalent
    • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in health-related studies
    • OR substantial successful experience delivering stop smoking interventions and support
  • Experience:
    • Experience of providing healthcare advice or promoting healthy lifestyle advice to patients or members of the public
    • Experience of working in health, social care, and other support roles in direct contact with people, families, or carers
    • Experience of providing help, support, and/or counselling on either a one-to-one basis or as part of a group setting
  • Skills/Knowledge:
    • A good level of understanding of evidence-based practice in relation to smoking cessation, the consequences of smoking, and benefits to quitting
    • An understanding of human behaviour that contributes to making healthy lifestyle changes and decisions
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and listening skills
