Position Overview

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is excited to announce an opening for a Clinical Psychologist within our Cancer Care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a specialized psychological service that enhances the existing counseling support for patients.
  • Offer clinical guidance and mentorship to various healthcare professionals, including Clinical Nurse Specialists and Allied Health Practitioners, while facilitating team debriefing sessions as necessary.
  • Create accessible resources and self-management strategies on relevant psychological topics for patients.
  • Conduct personalized psychological evaluations and therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to address psychological aspects of patient care and their interactions.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing the Psychology Service, which will work in tandem with the established counseling services.

Collaboration with a fellow Psychologist based in a nearby location will be essential.

Role Details:

This position represents an exciting opportunity as a Clinical Psychologist within our Cancer Care team. The role is part of a pilot initiative aimed at assessing the need for psychological support throughout the cancer journey, with the goal of establishing a sustainable service.

The successful candidate will work closely with patients and team members to evaluate the effectiveness of the service.

Supervision will be provided by the Lead Clinical Psychologist, and the role includes engagement with local and national networks of Psychologists in Health and Cancer.

Collaboration with academic institutions for trainee placements may also be part of the role.

Working Hours: 30 hours per week, with flexibility in work arrangements to accommodate both remote and on-site responsibilities.
