London, Greater London, United Kingdom Motability Operations Full time

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Actuary to take on a pivotal role within the Insurance Risk division at Motability Operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering critical actuarial insights to enhance our insurance framework and support our reinsurance entity, MO Reinsurance Limited (MORL). As the foremost actuarial authority within the organization, you will engage in a diverse array of intricate actuarial tasks and play a vital role in shaping the insurance offerings of the Motability scheme while identifying avenues for optimizing our insurance risk management.

Key Responsibilities
This position is situated within the actuarial team of the Insurance Risk sector, part of the Asset Risk division. The team undertakes a variety of actuarial functions to bolster MO and the insurance aspect of the Motability scheme, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting quarterly reserving assessments for MORL,
  • Performing biannual pricing evaluations based on comprehensive burn cost analyses in collaboration with our insurance partners,
  • Executing strategic and commercial evaluations of our risk models and reinsurance strategies,
  • Leading an annual capital modeling initiative,
  • Analyzing the risk profile of the scheme,
  • Implementing make-model pricing modifications to inform scheme lease pricing.
This role encompasses the management of a substantial portfolio of motor risk, comprising over 750,000 vehicles, 1.2 million drivers, and an annual premium exceeding £600 million. Although not a traditional insurance provider, Motability Operations holds a significant position in the UK motor sector, and the Actuary will represent MO and MORL in discussions with our insurance partners, reinsurance brokers, and actuaries, as well as auditors.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified (or qualified by experience) Actuary with a strong background in General Insurance pricing or reserving. A minimum requirement includes passing the IFOA exams CP1 and CM2 or their equivalents, along with practical experience applying various actuarial methodologies in similar roles. Familiarity with analytical tools and techniques is essential.

Additional Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have experience in UK motor pricing or reserving, proficiency in ResQ software, and a track record of developing actuarial processes and effectively communicating actuarial data and recommendations to diverse stakeholders. Fully-qualified IFOA members will be prioritized.

Benefits
Motability Operations is a distinctive organization, blending a strong mission with a commercial focus to deliver optimal mobility solutions to over 700,000 customers and their families across the UK. • An annual discretionary bonus,
  • A non-contributory pension scheme,
  • Generous annual leave policies,
  • Health and wellness benefits,
  • Opportunities for professional development and volunteering.
We are committed to building a diverse workforce and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, ensuring an inclusive and supportive workplace for all employees.
