Enterprise Architect in the Retail Sector

Title: Enterprise Architect - Retail Sector

Location: Flexible (London / Remote)

Duration: Fixed-term contract

Industry: Omnichannel Retail and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)

Salary: Competitive salary range plus performance bonuses

Role Overview

The main objective of this position is to serve as the chief Enterprise Architect overseeing the company's application technology ecosystem. This encompasses all customer interaction points and the technological framework for commercial fulfillment and service delivery. The role will concentrate on managing the architectural strategy for these domains, identifying opportunities for transformation, consolidation, and optimization to enhance customer, employee, and organizational outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in enterprise application architecture within a highly intricate retail environment. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and persuasive skills are essential, as collaboration across various teams (both business and technical) and all organizational levels, including executive leadership, will be required.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in the field, providing direction on strategic decisions while being mindful of current and emerging technologies.
  • Experience in navigating complex technology transformations within a large retail organization or a comparable sector.
  • Proven track record in formulating a credible and actionable target architecture that aligns with both Business and IT strategies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts in a clear, concise, and commercially relevant manner to senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional ability to influence and advise at all organizational levels, managing intricate stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, collaborating with other technical subject matter experts and business units to devise innovative technology strategies for rapidly evolving and ambiguous challenges.
  • Significant experience in Web User Experience Architecture, particularly with platforms such as Adobe and Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with SAP technology and its ecosystem is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microservices and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the context of digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems, both online and in-store, including compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.
  • Experience in implementing a Cloud-First strategy utilizing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Certifications

  • Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Several years of relevant experience in architecture roles.
  • Ideally, three or more years of experience in Enterprise Architecture within the specified domain.
  • Certification in a recognized Enterprise Architecture framework (e.g., TOGAF).
