About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopaedic Practitioner to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert specialist technical support and advice on casting and bracing services for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert casting and bracing services for patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Assess and develop care plans for patients requiring casting or splinting, referring to clinicians as required.
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of care for patients requiring casting or splinting.
  • Provide advice on the application of casts for specialist conditions, including total contact casting and wound care for diabetic patients, and hip spicas for pediatric patients.
  • Teach clinical staff on the use and application of splints and braces, and maintain competency records.
Requirements
  • Qualified Practitioner with British Orthopaedic Association registration.
  • Extensive experience of trauma and orthopaedic casting, functional bracing, and musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical practice within a hospital environment and specialist clinical and technical knowledge in the application and removal of all types of casting and bracing.
  • Significant and relevant experience post-qualification.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team covering various departments within adult and children services.
  • Experience of teaching and supervisory skills.
