Job Title: Adult Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Adult Mental Health Practitioner to join our Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS) team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The primary function of the HBPoS team is to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. As an Adult Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with clinical site managers, police, and other professionals to ensure the timely assessment and care of those detained under the Mental Health Act.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans to ensure the safe and effective management of mental health crises.
  2. Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including police, AMHPs, and medical colleagues, to facilitate the assessment and treatment of individuals in the HBPoS.
  3. Ensure all clinical and legal procedures are completed in accordance with Trust policy and MHA legislation.
  4. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain expertise in crisis intervention and mental health assessment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Registration as a Mental Health Nurse with the NMC.
  • Experience working with adults with serious and acute episodes of mental illness.
  • Good working knowledge of legal frameworks, including the MHA, MCA, and DOLs.
