Senior Trader - Carbon and Power

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Trader to join our Commodities trading desk in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for expanding our business in the Carbon Compliance markets and developing our franchise in the Carbon voluntary market.

Your primary focus will be on structuring, pricing, trading, and managing positions on Carbon and Power contracts (Physical and financial) to exploit and develop the bank's core client franchise in a risk-controlled, capital-efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market making, risk management, and senior staff updates on current risk positions
  • Implementation of optimal trading strategies on carbon and power assets
  • Execution of trades with OTC/listed brokers to ensure best execution
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with trading counterparties
  • Monitoring market levels, competitor pricing, and ensuring accuracy of Risk and Profit & Loss figures
  • Keeping trading books within required risk limits
  • Developing technical, market, product, and technological expertise
  • Acting as subject matter expert on Carbon and Power within the bank
  • Coordination with Support units for new instruments/tools setup
  • Assistance in automation and digitization of the Carbon and Power business
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in Carbon and Power trading
  • Strong understanding of Emissions trading schemes in the EU and UK
  • Solid comprehension of the Carbon Voluntary market
  • Sharp technical expertise in Energy derivatives contracts
  • Solid understanding of Energy supply and demand fundamentals in Europe
  • Robust understanding of key end-consumers and suppliers in Europe and the UK
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Solid problem-solving abilities
  • Strong commercial mindset and high communication skills
  • High entrepreneurial attitude required to develop a business
  • Excellent P&L track record
