Job Title: Fundraising Manager, Grants

The National Portrait Gallery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fundraising Manager, Grants to join its Development team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in securing critical support for the Gallery's budget-relieving activity and special projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Deliver a Grants Fundraising Strategy
  • Research and Prepare High-Quality Funding Applications
  • Ensure Accurate and Engaging Funder Reports
  • Undertake Stewardship of Key Funders
  • Work with the Prospect Researcher and the Gallery's Process for Ethical Review
Key Accountabilities:
  • Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager, Grants and Legacy Giving to Develop and Deliver a Grants Fundraising Strategy
  • Ensure a Sufficient Number of High-Quality Funding Applications are Made Each Year
  • Research and Develop High-Quality Applications for Funding
  • Ensure Accurate and Engaging Funder Reports are Written and Provided
  • Undertake Stewardship of Key Funders
Strategy and Planning:
  • Work Within the Overall Strategy for Grants and Legacy Giving
  • Agree on a Work Plan for Each Financial Year
  • Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager, Grants and Legacy Giving to Adjust Plans When Necessary
  • Proactively Identify New Funding Prospects for the Gallery
Research, Applications, and Reporting:
  • Proactively Work to Initiate and Develop Relationships with Prospective and Past Funders
  • Write Robust and Persuasive Funding Applications
  • Work with Colleagues to Ensure Projects are Monitored and Evaluated
Stewardship:
  • Ensure Opportunities for Funder Representatives to Engage with the Gallery's Work
  • Brief the Director/Director of Development and Other Colleagues about Funders
  • Ensure Reporting Expectations are Met
Information Management:
  • Monitor Incoming Grant Payments and Budget Expenditure
  • Record All Communications with Funders and Prospects on the CRM Database
Requirements:
  • Proven Track Record of Soliciting Donations from Trusts and Foundations
  • Experience of Engaging a Wide Range of Stakeholders
  • High Level of Proficiency Working with Standard Business Software
  • Working Knowledge of CRM Databases
Desirable:
  • Experience of Working within an Arts/Heritage Environment
  • Experience of Working on/Knowledge of an Acquisition Campaign and/or National Lottery Heritage Fund Application
Skills:
  • Excellent Written Skills
  • Ability to Craft Compelling Cases for Support
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
