About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health. As a key member of our secondary mental health team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health needs while they are in prison custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage individuals with secondary mental health service needs while they are in prison custody.
  • Assist in the delivery and development of effective, needs-based, modern mental health services within the prison.
  • Be expert in all areas of service delivery, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the effective management of your own caseload and utilize nursing skills and resources to provide high-quality service to all service users.
  • Contribute to maintaining the CPA process throughout the legal and custodial process.

Requirements
  • RMN Registration and completion of preceptorship program.
  • Good knowledge and experience of risk assessment and management, including knowledge of Mental Health Act and other mental health legislation.
  • Knowledge of factors affecting secure mental health care and the contemporary mental health agenda.
  • Ability to analyse problems, gather relevant information, and exercise sound judgement in reaching the most appropriate conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, work at a fast pace, and meet deadlines.
