Position Overview

The Tegid ward is a specialized surgical unit with 30 beds, focusing on patients undergoing colorectal and urology procedures.

As a Patient Care Support Specialist, your role will involve assisting registered nurses in delivering evidence-based care to patients and collaborating with other healthcare professionals, as well as engaging with patients, their families, and caregivers.

You will be responsible for delivering patient care as outlined in the nursing care plan and performing a variety of tasks under supervision throughout your shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the registered nurse in providing a high standard of comprehensive patient care, ensuring that the dignity and equality of patients are upheld at all times.
  • Incorporate the principles of fundamental care into daily practices to ensure a high-quality service for patients and clients.
  • Assist patients in maintaining their personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Execute duties within the care plan as delegated by a qualified practitioner, ensuring you have the necessary training and assessment.
  • Prepare the ward or clinical area for incoming patients by ensuring cleanliness and tidiness, and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Facilitate the admission process for new patients by preparing their bed area, welcoming them, and providing a tour of the ward.
  • Complete patient menu cards, involving patients in the process while considering any dietary restrictions as indicated by the qualified nurse.
  • Participate in protected mealtimes by ensuring patients receive their meals and beverages promptly and safely, maintaining a clean environment conducive to mealtimes.
