Design Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Weir. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing solutions to our customers' engineering problems, driving greater efficiency and performance. You will interact with customers and colleagues to enable problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Create and review drawings and designs to ensure compliance with customer specifications and organizational guidelines.
- 3D Modeling and Drawing Packages: High level of competency in creation of 3D models and corresponding drawing packages, BOM, and structured part numbers.
- Design Alternatives and Investigation: Review and investigate design alternatives and ensure all factors are considered to meet customer specifications, new products, and revisions.
- Quality and Reliability: Examine and inspect products at various stages of manufacture to maintain quality and reliability, especially with first articles.
- Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
- CAD CAM Packages: High levels of competence and relevant training with appropriate CAD CAM packages.
- Design and Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of design and manufacturing processes and procedures. Experience of heavy engineering and associated machining and fabrication.
- Software Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project & PowerPoint. Prior use of 3D and 2D CAD packages (Siemens NX, Solid Works, AutoCAD). Prior use of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), or Enterprise Resource Planning (EPR) software.
