ROLE SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is tasked with ensuring that their designated performance segment operates seamlessly and adheres to the schedule. This is achieved through proficient management of props, audio, lighting, and the daily oversight of the Cast and Backstage Support Teams.
In this unique theatrical setting, the role demands a readiness to apply traditional Stage Management skills within an innovative and immersive context, merging the grandeur of a film production with the enchantment of live performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SHOW MANAGEMENT
- Oversee a safe and exemplary show operation in strict accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of operational protocols, consulting with management for any necessary updates to ensure efficiency.
- Take full responsibility for assigned performance segments, including backstage and front-of-house areas, ensuring the highest standards of production quality are upheld.
- Verify that all technical elements of the performance, including audio equipment and lighting, are functioning correctly. Report any issues promptly to the management and technical teams to maintain production integrity.
- Manage all props related to the assigned performance segment, ensuring they are utilized correctly, maintained, reset, and stored appropriately.
- Adjust audio levels in accordance with the specifications set by the sound and lighting design teams.
- Supervise pre-performance activities, including technical and safety inspections.
- Guide Principal Cast Members through warm-up exercises and notes as directed by the Resident Director or management team.
- Possess a thorough understanding of operational areas to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Ensure accurate daily reporting of operational metrics to management and the broader operations team.
REHEARSALS AND TRAINING
- Collaborate with the Show Director and management to facilitate an effective rehearsal process. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure necessary resources, including rehearsal spaces and props, are available.
- Document the director's decisions regarding staging and notes for cast members.
- Create a comprehensive prompt book to capture essential cues for sound, lighting, and set operations.
- Identify and address any operational challenges that arise during rehearsals.
- Participate in all mandatory training sessions.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards training, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt as required.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Ensure adequate staffing levels for all roles, proactively addressing any shortfalls in collaboration with management.
- Foster a professional and positive work environment within the Show Operations team, serving as a role model for all team members.
- Work closely with Human Resources on recruitment needs before and during the event.
- Address performance and attendance issues promptly and in accordance with company policies.
- Recognize and encourage exemplary performance and attendance among team members.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Assist the Show Operations team in coordinating emergency procedures, prioritizing the safety and well-being of both visitors and staff.
- Report any health and safety incidents or near-misses to the appropriate channels, including hazards and maintenance needs.
GUEST RELATIONS
Support the communication and requests of all special guests as directed by the management team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated professional experience as a Stage Manager in either traditional or immersive theatrical settings.
- Proficient knowledge of theatrical technology, including audio, lighting, and special effects.
- Familiarity with best practices in health and safety regulations.
