About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Dental Officer to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a key member of our Community Dental Service, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical care to adults and children in line with the Welsh Health Circular (WHC/2022/22).

Key Responsibilities
  • Treat a wide range of patients, including those with complex needs and conditions such as Dementia, Autism, Learning Disabilities, and medically compromised patients.
  • Work collaboratively with other dentists, including specialists in Special Care and Paediatric dentistry, dental therapists, and hygienists to provide comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Contribute to the supervision of Dental Core Trainees Years 1 and 2, providing guidance and support to help them develop their clinical skills.
  • Participate in the Welsh Government oral health improvement initiative, 'Designed to Smile', and other epidemiology surveys to promote oral health and well-being.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of Vocational Training/Foundation Training.
  • Full GDC Registration.
  • Performer Number.
  • Experience of working within a Primary Care Setting, including experience of working with special care groups and Paediatric Dentistry.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A driving licence is essential for this role, as you will be required to work in fixed clinics, on mobile dental units, or provide domiciliary care.
