About the Role:
Dunbar Education is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to join our esteemed independent school. This role is vital in ensuring that our school's facilities are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of our school's buildings, grounds, and facilities.
- Coordinate and manage the work of the facilities team, including caretakers, maintenance staff, and cleaners.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the security of our school premises, including managing alarm systems, key control, and out-of-hours access.
- Manage our school's waste disposal and recycling processes, and ensure the grounds are kept clean and presentable.
- Coordinate the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events, meetings, and functions.
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring all expenditures are accounted for and within budget.
- Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for cost and energy savings.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar facilities management role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance standards.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors.
- IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management software.
- A commitment to maintaining our school's values and ethos.
