Embark on a Unique Career Path in Healthcare
Are you currently engaged in the healthcare sector and seeking a new direction? If you are a registered nurse (RGN, RMN, or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic, your expertise can be utilized in a distinctive role as a functional specialist.
Role Overview
As a functional specialist, you will be responsible for drafting reports that assist the Department for Communities (DfC) in making crucial decisions regarding individuals' health and care needs.
Daily Responsibilities
Your role will involve conducting various assessments, including initial reviews, paper-based evaluations, and face-to-face, video, or telephone consultations to determine how a claimant's health condition or disability impacts their daily activities.
Our client's hybrid working model allows you to operate from home while being assigned to your nearest assessment center on a rotational basis for in-person evaluations. You will also spend time in our centers or office locations for team meetings and training sessions.
In preparing your reports, you will observe and document an individual's capacity to perform daily activities while analyzing clinical data and supporting evidence. Each day, you will compile three detailed reports, ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 words, based on the evidence collected for each claimant. You will receive training to ensure that your reports provide comprehensive detail, evidence, and justification to support the DWP's decision-making process.
What We Offer
This role presents unique challenges and differs significantly from traditional healthcare positions, which is why our client prioritizes your training and professional development. You will commence with a 12-week training program (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM), with dedicated time for self-directed learning. Additionally, we offer options for 3-day and 4-day training schedules.
The initial six months can be particularly demanding, and we are committed to supporting you through close mentorship as you navigate your ongoing development. The starting salary is £38,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time), accompanied by a 5% retention bonus. Upon achieving remote approved status, your salary will increase to £39,900, with the potential for a bonus of up to 10%. After successfully delivering face-to-face assessments, your salary will rise to £41,500, along with a bonus of up to 10%.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of one year of post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic.
- Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or equivalent), without restrictions, and holding a valid PIN.
- Exceptional observational and communication skills, enabling you to listen, empathize, and explore deeper insights.
- Proficiency in typing at least 30 words per minute.
- Demonstrated experience in using IT and Microsoft Office, as well as remote access systems such as MS Teams.
