About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Laboratory Technician to join our team at UKCEH. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality chemistry analysis services and results with our Air Quality team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize COSHH assessment software to ensure assessments are up-to-date
  • Respond to customer queries and prepare orders
  • Arrange shipping of orders and samples
  • Prepare laboratory materials, including accurate standards and solutions
  • Collate and organize incoming field samples
  • Assist with fieldwork activities on occasion
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and procedures
  • Procure lab consumables
  • Liaise with and supervise instrument engineers to complete annual services or repairs
Requirements
  • Aptitude for learning and developing within the team and the role
  • A methodical and organized working style, comfortable with repeat lab routines
  • Good teamworking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach
  • A full UK (manual) driving licence (vehicles will be provided)
Desirable Skills
  • A good degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience (e.g., Chemistry)
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting (for example, as part of university course lab modules)
  • COSHH awareness
  • Experience of preparing solutions and reagents to a high standard
  • Customer handling experience
