Job Title: Accounts & Administrator

Smith and Reed is seeking an experienced Accounts & Administrator to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of financial transactions, including banking, credit control, and cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage debtors and creditors using Sage 50, including sending statements, chasing payments, and processing monthly payment runs.
  2. Update customer and supplier records on Sage, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
  3. Produce monthly financial reports, including profit and loss, cash flow, balance sheet, and debtor list.
  4. Work closely with the sales team to manage customer credit limits and payments, and the purchasing team to manage supplier terms and expectations.
  5. Monitor overheads and work with the general manager and other departments to optimize costs.
  6. Manage card, website, and other income streams, working with the sales team to record and advise when received.
  7. Run month-end processes, including prepayments and accruals.
  8. Prepare VAT returns and ensure PAYE, VAT, and other tax payments are set up and accounted for.
  9. Work closely with the directors to forecast business needs and plans.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Sage 50 and Microsoft packages.
  • At least 2-3 years in a similar role, with experience in accounts payable and receivable.
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax regulations.
